When purchasing a pump to deliver water into your home from a storage tank, you will generally need to buy a unit with a pump control unit.
This allows you to control the pump by simply opening or closing a tap inside your home.
While most pump controllers will incorporate a nonreturn valve internally,
over time, these rubber flap type components will rupture or deteriorate.
It is always good practice to install a non- return valve on the suction of the pump for a JOJO type tank installation.
This will ensure positive pressure on the discharge pipe and also stop the water in the pressure side of the controller from running back into the tank.
Very often a pump found hunting (switching on and off continually) will be caused by this.
